When Elijah was about to depart this earth, Elisha kept a determined focus on his mentor, Elijah. Three times Elisha said, “As the LORD lives, and as you yourself live, I will not leave you” (2 Kings 2:2, 4, 6). The end result was Elijah’s mantle and a double portion of the spirit of Elijah (vv. 9-13) came to rest on Elisha. Intentional focus on our Lord is the way to be filled with the Spirit of our Lord. It is the Spirit of Jesus Himself that we need.
