Paul, speaking as spiritual father, said to the church, “I want you to be wise about what is good, and innocent about what is evil” Romans 16:19b (NIV). “Innocent about evil” means to not experience it. Evil calls for persons to try it. Evil pleasure has the poison of death in it. We are better not to have ever experienced some things. The loss of innocence is not a pretty picture, and the consequences are great. If we will be “wise about what is good”, we will avoid the degenerating experience of what is evil.
