“For David, after he had served the purpose of God in his own generation, died, was laid beside his ancestors, and experienced corruption; but he whom God raised up experienced no corruption” (Acts 13:36–37 NRSV). Our bodies will go back to dust, but the day will come “When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality” (I Corinthians 15:54). It was impossible for the grave to hold the one who possessed the “Spirit of Holiness” (Romans 1:4). “Neither wilt Thou allow Thy Holy One to see the pit” (Psalms 16:10). In Jesus’ resurrection “Death is swallowed up in victory.” (1 Corinthians 15:53–55). For this reason Jesus said, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die” (John 11:25-26).
