“And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually” Genesis 6:5 (KJV). This plight of humanity is not the final word. The Psalmist wrote, “I have inclined my heart to perform Your statutes Forever, even to the end” Psalm 119:112 (NASB). I have something to do with what my heart is inclined to do. My inherited tendencies may make me want to go another way. My drives want to drive me. Sin wants to dominate me. But by grace, I have a choice. As I mature and grow in strength of character, I am carried on by a different wind, the Wind of the Spirit.
