Following Jesus’ baptism He entered His ministry in the power of the Spirit. Following Pentecost the disciples, who had heretofore walked too much in their own strength, entered their ministry in the power of the Spirit. The power of the Spirit is necessary for the mission of the church. We as disciples must not even think about doing the work of the Lord in our own strength. It is the Spirit that enlivens the body of Christ and gives energy to the Great Commission.
“You will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NASB)
