We should cultivate the consciousness of living in the reality of God’s presence. This is not positive thinking, but bringing our thinking in line with the fact that He is with us. This is easy to forget as we move from one shiny object to another. Abundance can detract us from Him, causing us to forget Him (Deut 6:10-12). The cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches can also detour us (Mk 4:19). Jesus said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Heb 13:5). He said He would be with us “Until the end of the age” Matt 28:20. If I live consciously aware that He is with me, it changes how I think, what I say, what I do, and where I go. Further, it reassures me that I am not alone; the Comforter is with me.
