The fact that God became flesh in Jesus of Nazareth shapes all of Christian belief and practice. God embodied Himself in physicality, a human body, God in human flesh. The incarnation does away with the idea that a human body equals sinfulness. It destroys ancient arguments that the physical was bad but the spiritual was good. It reaffirms the declaration of Genesis that the creation is good. According to the words of Jesus Himself, the sacrament of bread and wine is so in-dwelt by Him that he could say, “This is my body…this is my blood”. He who enters flesh can enter bread and wine! Also, this is why your body becomes a member of His body when in-dwelt by Jesus, who is, His Holy Spirit (Ephesians 5:29, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20). Your Body is Jesus’ body to be Him to all you touch. The incarnation is the grounds for all of this. Christians are to enflesh in their body Christ Himself.
