We sort out the past in some very unhealthy ways. We say, “If I only I had…” “If only I had not…” We feel bad about how a choice of ours influenced someone else. It is true that our actions intermingle with other people’s choices. We all make mistakes and misspeak in all the relationships of life. When it happens to us we should give grace. Also we should extend/receive grace for ourselves in these things. In the end we are not responsible for other people’s choices, though we may feel guilt for any part we might have played. Our Father is full of abounding grace and tender compassion for us. To be enfolded in that is hopeful and healing.
“The LORD is like a father to his children, tender and compassionate to those who fear him. For he knows how weak we are; he remembers we are only dust.” Psalm 103:13-14 (NLT)
