“When you have done it to the least of these, you have done it to me” (Mt. 25). We say, “I would never do anything to hurt Jesus.” Are we sure? He is there in the least, the last and the lost. He is there in the lonely senior, the rejected spouse, the wounded, the terminal and the abused teen. He is there in the child who can’t wait to get back to school, so at least there she can be loved and given something to eat. He is there in places and persons that we never pause to observe.
Father, You sent Your Son on a mission of rescue. We, the human family, treated Him worse than bad. We killed Your Beloved One. Have mercy on us! Jesus, You have come to us again in the needy of the earth; again we treat You badly. Have mercy on us! Help us to repent! Amen.
