The Lord is high and lifted up.  He sits on His throne, clothed in light and glorious majesty.  The vision is so glorious that in trembling we fall before Him.  Who can stand in His presence?   One who still lives his or her life in pride has never yet seen the enthroned glory of the one exalted God.  To see His glory is to see our un-doneness.  To see Him will take the swagger out of our step and cast us upon our face.  “Our God is a consuming fire” (Deut 4:24).  To see Him burns our pride and leaves us with a proper view of Him and consequently, a proper view of ourselves.

“Therefore, since we receive a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us show gratitude, by which we may offer to God an acceptable service with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.” Hebrews 12:28-29 (NASB)
