When someone enters your home you want to make them feel at ease and welcome. If you are a guest there can be certain things that make you feel uncomfortable, even unwelcome. Hospitality is a beautiful welcoming art. Jesus said He wants my heart to be His home, “If anyone loves me, he will keep my word, and my Father will love him, and we will come to him and make our home with him” (John 14:23 ESV). I want my heart to be a place that Jesus is comfortable to be present. I want nothing in me that is offensive; I want to repent of anything un-Christlike. I do not want to grieve the Spirit of Christ in me by offensive thoughts and behaviors (Ephesians 4:29-31). I want my love to wrap Him in warm welcoming hospitality.
“Lord Jesus, thank you for Your great patience and mercy toward me, when I still don’t have it all together. Thank you for partnering with me in housekeeping/heart-keeping that helps to make my heart a more hospitable place. My heart is now Your house. Amen!”
