We sometimes look back to places we have lived and may even long to return to them. When we do, we find that they have changed and it just does not feel like it used to feel. The place has changed, people have gone, so we go on with a memory that may nurse an empty place in our heart. In the end, the longing of our heart cannot be fulfilled in any place. We long for our Father and He will be what makes heaven to be heaven. The Son has given us access to the Father and a preview of what our future is like. Our fellowship with Trinity is a foretaste of what the mind cannot imagine, but the Father’s children will one day experience more fully. God is the One for whom the heart really longs. Millions have found heaven in Him while living in a hovel; amid the squalor they have found a song and a purpose.
Father, give us a song in our heart that reflects such a satisfaction with You that we can sing anywhere and at anytime. Amen!
