We are too intimidated by the culture’s limitations and parameters it seeks to impose on us. The culture seeks to move us to silence. It seeks to relegate the message of Christianity to the ash heap of history. It insists that believers be quiet and keep their faith private. The nature of the message is such that it must not be silent or private. In every generation we must break out and say, “We cannot but speak the things that we have seen and heard” (Acts 4:20). We need the Spirit to embolden us to do that.
“And now, Lord, take note of their threats, and grant that Your bond-servants may speak Your word with all confidence, while You extend Your hand to heal, and signs and wonders take place through the name of Your holy servant Jesus.” And when they had prayed, the place where they had gathered together was shaken, and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak the word of God with boldness.” Acts 4:29-31 (NASB)
