Sometimes what we call a hero is a human acting with courage, compassion, and feeling for another human. No one had more compassion for humanity than did Jesus. He died for the unrighteous, ungodly and sinners. His great acts of mercy were driven by His love for us. It was not a kind of spontaneous heroism; it was a calculated heroism where He knew that it would cost Him His life. He came a long way to get to us. He went the distance to save us. His was courage and compassion at its best. He did the human thing that proved to be divine.
“For while we were still helpless, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will hardly die for a righteous man; though perhaps for the good man someone would dare even to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:6-8 (NASB)
