Don’t strangle biblical stories with theological contortions about the story. (Though I know theology has its place). Let the story speak to you as it has spoken to those for ages and ages. We need to rehear the stories; we need to learn to retell them again to those we love. We need to read them when we are alone with the Book. Let them flow through the reading of scripture as a part of congregational worship. Let them flow through your heart as a means of grace. Let them proclaim; let them teach. We are all shaped by the stories we tell. The Christian community is shaped and held together by the stories of its faith.
“You then, my child, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus; and what you have heard from me through many witnesses entrust to faithful people who will be able to teach others as well.” 2 Timothy 2:1-2 (NRSV)
