When we face the loss of loved ones, Paul urges us to “not grieve as others do who have no hope”.  Grief is not easy to get through, as millions can testify.  Grief is much harder when there is no hope of reunion.  On this “All Saints Day” let us remind ourselves that the saints on earth are one with the saints in Heaven.  The resurrection of Jesus is our guarantee that the two groups will be ever together someday.  When Jesus returns, the saints on earth will be joined with the saints in Heaven.  Yes we grieve, but hope changes the way we grieve.

“But we do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about those who have died, so that you may not grieve as others do who have no hope.” 1 Thessalonians 4:13 (NRSV)
