We look for greener grass away from our present pasture. Looking somewhere else tends to destroy the present place. God has nourishment for us where we are. The Shepherd does lead us into green pastures and beside still waters, yet often we want Him to lead us “real soon” to a place that is better than where we are. Our Feeder (i.e. Shepherd) is with us in our life in this present moment and will lead us by His wisdom to the nourishment we need in His time.
“The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me lie down in green pastures. He leads me beside still waters. He restores my soul. He leads me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
