Gratitude does not deny the pain of life. It does not seek escapes into the false realities of alcohol, drugs and illicit sex, etc. It sees these detours as trap doors. It seeks to work through pain and be grateful to God in the process. It feels life the way it is. It does not miss the moments, untasted, unseen, unfelt, and unappreciated. Gratitude lives the moment in worship and is thus saved from false realities that deny life as it is.
“Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name.” Psalm 30:4 (NASB)
