The Father’s forgiveness of us is greater than our forgiveness of others. His is greater because our offenses against the Father are the greater crimes. His forgiveness is greater because of His justice. It is greater because our sin is so opposite His holiness. If the Father has so forgiven us of our trespasses against Him, we can do no other than forgive His other children’s trespasses against us. To not forgive is the height of ingratitude to our Father’s forgiveness of us.
“In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace.” Ephesians 1:7 (NRSV)
