When we are “born from above,” it is by the Spirit. Jesus was conceived by the Spirit, and so are we at our new birth. The Spirit now lives in us. The Spirit is our DNA connection to the Father and in us cries, “Abba, Father.” By the Spirit we have intimate union with God. There is no room for another god in this relationship. “He jealously desires the Spirit which He has made to dwell in us” (James 4:5).
