God is love. “Love does no keep a record of wrongs it has suffered (I Corinthians 13:5). We keep careful records of the wrongs we have suffered. All you have to do is lend an ear and we will tell you who did what, when, how wrong it really was and how it made us feel, and even how we feel about it right now. God is not that way; God is not preoccupied with your past or its sins. Micah said, “You will cast all our sins into the depths of the sea” (7:19 ESV). Stop reciting all the wrongs you have endured in your life; most of us have had our share. If God forgets my sins then it is my duty to gratefully forget yours the same way He forgot mine. Stop digging that stuff up and throw away your shovel. It is not healthy! It is not godly!
“He has not dealt with us according to our sins, Nor rewarded us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him. As far as the east is from the west, So far has He removed our transgressions from us. Just as a father has compassion on his children, So the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him. For He Himself knows our frame; He is mindful that we are but dust.” Psalm 103:10-14 (NASB)
