God draws us so that we might come near to Him; God draws us so that we may know Him. To know Him is to know our great need. To know Him is to find satisfaction that can be found nowhere else. There is a sense in which we cannot even know ourselves until we have come to know God. His Presence exposes our need, not for our condemnation, but for our sanctification. His grace is bent on helping us, His justice and mercy is bent on restoring us. In this way God’s true righteousness is seen in being “just and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus” (Romans 3:26).
