Paul wrote to a pastor and told him, “Do the work of an evangelist” (2 Timothy 4:5). Sometimes we are thrust into assignments to which we do not feel particularly gifted. We all know that to find and practice your gifts is the ideal, but now and again we discover that there are functions in the body that need to be performed and we have become the one to carry them out. In this case, we pray for wisdom, ask for the Spirit’s help, and do what needs to be done. If we love the Lord, and love people, it is surprising how effective it is when the “ungifted” willingly serve and minister.
