We are both objects of grace and channels of grace. What flows to us from God is to flow out of us toward others. Character begins to mature when we start giving grace spontaneously. Remember when you learned to ride a bicycle. You had to think about every little thing to keep from falling, but then you got the hang of it. You balance, peddle, brake and ride without even thinking about it. As we mature we become kinder, gentler, more caring, compassionate and loving, as well as more self-controlled and disciplined, not because we have to think about it, but it is who we have become.
Oh Teaching Spirit, help us that the qualities of Jesus will become assimilated into our very nature, so that we may be like our Elder Brother. Amen!
