Kings in the ancient world governed by brutality and the abuse of power. They ruled by fear and intimidation. Jesus came as the Gentle King whose methods were kindness, grace and love. This Gentle King was approachable. Sinners wanted to draw near (Lu 15:1). He had not come to condemn. He came to rescue. His weapon was love. Jesus’ love creates an atmosphere where communities and individuals can blossom. His kingdom citizens live to embrace others like He has embraced them. His gentle subjects will inherit the earth (Matt 5:5).
“Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” Matthew 11:29 (NKJV)
