Your greatest loss may be your greatest gain.  Your greatest gain may be your greatest loss.  We can gain the world and lose our soul.  We can gain wealth and lose our families.  We can bask in circles of influence; we can become movers and shakers and be as lost as can be.  We can heap up wealth and sorrow with the same shovel.  You can build your career and never build for the kingdom of God.  Give your life for something bigger than yourself and reap eternal profits;  give yourself for something that will outlive your three-score and ten.  Serve those who cannot repay you and you will be rich. The one who will be wise will know the difference between gain and loss.

“But whatever things were gain to me, those things I have counted as loss for the sake of Christ. More than that, I count all things to be loss in view of the surpassing value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them but rubbish so that I may gain Christ” (Philippians 3:7–8 NASB).
