Christians need to become fully Christian. The problem is that we have redefined what being a Christian is, and that keeps us from it. We have defined being a Christian as one who has merely believed in Christ for salvation, and salvation, is a ticket to heaven. “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved” (Acts 16:31); let’s explore that. The word believe means that you live your life with your full confidence in Christ, enough that you actually follow, and put into practice His teachings in your life. Believe, in the NT, means that you commit and surrender your entire being to the Lord, to His teachings and His way of living. It means that you are caught up with His Kingdom and your very actions are saying, “Thy Kingdom Come, thy will be done in me as it is in Heaven”. We are not fully Christian until His love, kindness, compassion, humility, and forgiving spirit are not just second nature but the core of our character. Salvation (deliverance) is not as much about your future as it is that you have been delivered so you can live like Jesus now.
Lord Jesus, free us from our shallow-self-serving definitions of both Christian and salvation, so that we can become fully Christian and fully human. Amen!
