Jesus’ victory over temptations in the wilderness was foundational for His victory on the cross. He overcame temptation to demonstrate to us that we can too. The descending Spirit at His baptism enabled His victory in His testing. We need the Spirit to face our temptations, live a life of selfless service, face our Gethsemane, trials and experience victory on our cross. Depending on the God who has come to live inside us insures our victory.
After the temptation it is said, “And Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit, and news about Him spread through all the surrounding district.” Luke 4:14 (NASB)
