How does Jesus save us from our sins? He offers us forgiveness, but there is much more. He came to break sin’s power. He came to heal sin’s disease. He leads us to break sin’s ingrained patterns. He came to give us a principle of love within, which is the fulfillment of the law. Sin is a failure to love. “Love covers a multitude of sins.” When we are acting out of love for God and one another, sin, in its loveless ways, is displaced by love. Jesus sent us His Spirit, a principle of love within, that provides the victory which the resurrection promises.
“Above all, keep fervent in your love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins.” 1 Peter 4:8 (NASB)
