God’s gracious forgiveness releases us from guilt. The same grace also seeks to release us from shame. So many people carry shame from childhood abuse. Others carry it from some unthoughtful act they did at another time and place. Shame is a heavy burden to bear. You do not have to bear it alone. One bore it with you and for you. He who was crucified naked took upon Himself every shameful act of humanity. He not only bore your sins, He bore your shame. Receive this gift of grace.
“Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider Him who has endured such hostility by sinners against Himself, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” Hebrews 12:2-3 (NASB)
