“All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them ability” Acts 2:4 (NRSV). Fourteen different ethnic groups heard good news in their own particular dialect without the aid of an interpreter. This was a sign to unbelievers that made them believers (I Co 14:22). The filling of the Spirit was radically cross-cultural, bringing ethnic groups together in unity under the Lordship of Messiah. Pentecost’s vision is to bring all people groups together as one new humanity in Jesus.
Holy Spirit, break down the ethnic and cultural barriers by your filling. Pour out your love in us (Rom 5:5) so that we may love all people groups in Your power. Amen!
