“Elijah was a man subject to like passions as we are (KJV) (“with a nature like ours” ESV), and he prayed fervently…” Being weak does not excuse us from prayer, but is a reason for prayer. Fervent prayer can come from the heart and lips of persons who have a nature like ours and passions like ours. Prayer must not be left to super saints and those who have chosen a cloistered life. Prayer is a way for common folks to tap into divine energy. Life-altering, miracle-working, devil-defeating, kingdom-advancing prayer comes from the humblest of folks. Fervent prayer becomes prevailing prayer.
“Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months it did not rain on the earth.” James 5:17 (ESV)
