We all have had and should have spiritual leaders that help to guide us. We must remember, however, that our spiritual leaders and heroes have feet of clay. Do not be alarmed when you see clay feet in others. Do not discount their leadership because of it. When you see it up close and personal, do not let it devastate your faith; it should make you love them more. We all go through times when our socks and shoes can’t hide our feet of clay. Look at your own clay feet, and if you are being what you should be in guiding others, someone will need to give you grace for your feet of clay.
“For God, who said, ‘Let light shine out of darkness,’ made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us.” 2 Corinthians 4:6-7 (NIV)
