God is near.  My feelings may say He is far away.  My feelings are never a true judge of my proximity to God. These feelings must not be allowed to be locked in as my perceptions.  My faith must affirm the fact of His nearness.  My feelings are changing and unreliable.  The eternal God has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Joshua 1:5, NIV & Hebrews 13:5).  “I am with you always, even to the end of the age” Matthew 28:20b (NASB).  Believe it!  Live with that confidence!

          FEELINGS

      by Martin Luther

Feelings come and feelings go,

And feelings are deceiving.

My warrant is the Word of God;

Naught else is worth believing.

Though all my heart should feel condemned.

For want of some sweet token,

I know one greater than by heart

Whose word cannot be broken.

I’ll trust in God’s unchanging Word,

Till soul and body sever.

The words of men will pass away.

God’s word abides forever.
