Herod is the anti-Christ character in the story of Christ’s birth. He embodies evil. He pretends the desire to worship the child, so as to hide a plot to kill Him. When he fails, he turns to kill all the boy babies of Bethlehem. What kind of evil kills babies and innocent children? Jesus not only encountered evil on the cross and throughout His life, He even did so as a baby. Do not be surprised nor dismayed when you face it.
“Then Herod, when he saw that he was deceived by the wise men, was exceedingly angry; and he sent forth and put to death all the male children who were in Bethlehem and in all its districts, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had determined from the wise men.” Matthew 2:16 (NKJV)
