God has given us everything we need for living a life of godliness. Holiness is possible because of the way our God has resourced us. He has given us the example of His Son. He has given us the directives of His word. He has given us the indwelling power of His Holy Spirit. He who has called us out of the corruption of this present age, has arranged that we become partakers of the nature of a God who is holy-love.
“His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature.” 2 Peter 1:3-4 (NRSV)
