Nebuchadnezzar had a vision of a huge shining statue of a man that was crushed by a stone rolling down a mountain. Daniel interpreted it to be the end of the governments of men and the arrival of the kingdom of God (Daniel 2:ff.). In the vision we see that the governments of men are temporary and the Kingdom of God is permanent. We need that perspective. This will change how we view our nation. It too will become “like the chaff of the summer threshing floor”. It will save us a lot of anxiety and keep us away from a lot of false hopes. Cast your lot with King Jesus and His everlasting Kingdom.
“Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth. …In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. Daniel 2:35a, 44 (NIV)
