The movements of our Lord as expressed in the Scriptures, the Apostles’ and Nicene creeds, are that He descended, He ascended, and He will descend again. He dwelt with us as a human named God-with-us. After He ascended, His Spirit descended. He dwells with us and in us by the Holy Spirit of Christ. He said, “I will never leave you.” Emmanuel, You came! Emmanuel, You are here. We are not alone. God is with us. Emmanuel, You will come again.
Oh come, Oh come Emmanuel.
And ransom captive Israel,
That mourns in lonely exile here,
Until the Son of God appear!
