People avoid discipline because it is not fun. Those who love ease and pleasure do not love discipline. Without discipline we can never grow nor develop. We start with an external discipline from our parents. Now we are to develop an internal discipline that marks us as adults. As Christians, we bring ourselves under the discipline of God for the shaping of character and a life of holiness. Embrace discipline and you will embrace its positive outcome.
“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” Hebrews 12:11 (NIV)
