To draw near to God, we must draw away from all idols.  You don’t have any?  Look again!   Think some more!  Know yourself!  Know your propensities, your hungers, and your obsessions.  They will tell you things about yourself that you need to know.  Idols are forever there trying to intrude into your temple.  Drawing near to God is about sifting through all of these things; it is about an ongoing soul-searching repentance.  Drawing near is loving God with your whole being with an undivided heart.

“Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. 13 It is the Lord your God you shall fear. Him you shall serve and by his name you shall swear. 14 You shall not go after other gods, the gods of the peoples who are around you—Deuteronomy 6:4-5;13-14 (ESV)
