“Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” We can so overemphasize the divine initiative toward us that we neglect the needed human response. God always takes the first step toward us in prevenient grace, but remember, this is an invitation to our response. The depth of our spirituality is contingent on our actively seeking God. It is drawing near to the One who has already come near. He came near in His Son. He came near in His Holy Spirit. He is nearer than your breath. Draw near; take a deep breath and breathe in the Breath of God.
