Abraham was chosen to be the father of many nations.  His works and faith are a model to be followed.  We too are children of Abraham.  His descendants are not merely people of faith; they are those who live out His legacy by doing righteousness and justice.  Righteousness involves living right before God and putting to right things in and around us.  Justice comes to the aid of those who are beaten up by abusive powers.  Doing righteousness and justice is as much our devotion to the Lord as our quiet times.

“For I have chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the LORD by doing righteousness and justice, so that the LORD may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.” Genesis 18:19 (NASB)
