Ancient Israel mourned saying, “The glory is departed” (I Sam 4:22). This departed glory awaited the time of the Son to return in its fullness. There is nothing so glorious as the Eternal Son (John 1:14). We must not look back to former days to relish the “glory moments”. We can’t if we know that Jesus is with us and why He is with us. He has not been given to us to create some bygone era. He has been given to us to reveal God’s glory in this present time. The resurrection’s triumph is the future already begun. Israel’s departed glory has come back in Jesus our Lord. Oh, how glorious He is! He is both with us and seated at the right hand of the Father representing us.
God “Has in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he has appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high.” Hebrews 1:2-3
