The pilgrimage toward holiness is not to an arrival, but it is a journey. It is a pursuit. It is social in that we pursue Christlikeness in how we interact with others. The pursuit of Christlikeness and the desire for it, is the normal path of the believer and is also what makes us fully human; deification is humanity restored to be like Jesus. This all-consuming desire will push sin out of your life or the sinful desires will push out the pursuit of Christlikeness. You cannot do both at the same time. To run after the divine likeness is the life of holiness.
“Run after peace with all men, and the sanctification without which no one will see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14)
