Defeating evil is rooted in surrender to truth. “You will know the truth, and the truth will make you free” (John 8:32). Freedom is joined to truth. Satan, father of lies, is the father of bondage. the perpetrator of slavery (John 8). Play loose with truth and you are playing with bondage and death; you are consorting with the evil one. The people of truth need the Spirit of truth, else we drift from it. He will expose the lies in us and in the world around us. Most of us do not really know ourselves. Until the Spirit shows us our inner motives and intentions, we will never be able to expose anyone else’s falseness. Until we are honest with God we can not risk transparency to those around us.
