Satan uses Caesar types and methods to rule the world. He both hates and resists Messiah’s way of establishing the kingdom. Satan would prefer us to use his methods while ignoring his presence at work in the process. Satan offered Jesus a deal; he offered him power over the world without the cross, without the redemptive power of suffering love. Satan still offers this way to any whom he can get to pursue it. Satan’s politic is cross-less. The true King of the world invites us to take up the cross as our way of being in the world. The way of the cross is the way of defeating evil.
