We may have become a generation of Christians who are a mile wide and an inch deep.  We have ceased to think deeply about the grand truths of Christianity.    We need to think about how Trinity, incarnation, atonement, and other Christian truths fit together as part of a beautiful story.  Our shallowness does not serve us well in desert places.  We become deep by tapping into the deep wells of Truth, the Spirit and the Word.  We avoid shallowness by exploring the grand story of redemption beyond cliches that have long since lost their meaning.  To grow deeper is far more than academic; it must be experiential in our relationship with our Father.  Growing knowledge should always be paired with growing faith.

“And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.” 1 John 5:20 (NRSV)
