You can do this by creating a life of selfishness and self-focus. Exalt yourself in pride over your peers and the consequences are haunting. Resist the overtures of God’s Spirit and direct your own paths and you will be terribly alone. Live by greed and grabbing and what you gain will taunt you. Selfishness ends up turning on the self in hellish ways. Self-focus sours the soul and embitters the spirit. Live for self and the whole world will seem against you. Satan wants to be the focus instead of God. Live that way and you will live in line with the devil and his angels (Mt 25:41).
“How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations!
