Don’t Leave Me Now
“Do not turn your back on me. Do not reject your servant in anger. You have always been my helper. Don’t leave me now; don’t abandon me, O God of my salvation! Even if my father and mother abandon me, the LORD will hold me close.” Psalm 27:9-10 (NLT)
The Psalmists had a radical honesty and frankness with God that we have lost. We know that He will never leave us nor forsake us, yet there are times we may feel abandoned. God is big enough for us to be honest with Him. His love is unconditional, He can handle our hurts and our confused speech. The name Israel is from those who wrestle with God; it is about folks who pour out their complaint to God, and still trust Him.
