All behavior has consequences. Having been forgiven for some past sin does not mean that the consequences of that sin will not be reaped for a lifetime. We sometimes try to rescue people from their behaviors and in some cases, end up enabling and not helping. Enabling may cut short the teaching power that consequences have. If you are living with the sad consequence of a poor decision, give yourself grace. That is, do not beat yourself up, but receive the Father’s mercy. God uses people everyday, in magnificent ways, who are dealing with the ache of past actions. Give love and grace to the family member or friend that is dealing with their consequences.
“For he who does wrong will receive the consequences of the wrong which he has done, and that without partiality.” Colossians 3:25 (NASB)
